Pulmonary artery carries deoxygenated blood from heart to lungs.

Name the three types of blood vessels.
i)      Arteries              ii)      Capillaries          iii)     Veins

How some disorders in human transport system can be affected by diet?
i)      Diet having high level of cholesterol can affect transport system.
ii)      It can cause narrowing of blood vessels.
iii)     It can create blood clot and block the flow of blood.

What are the risk factors that lead to cardiovascular disorders?
i)      It can cause Angina.
ii)      It can cause Heart Attack.

List four substances that are exchanged through the walls of the capillaries.
i)      Exchange of gases               ii)      Exchange of food
iii)     Exchange of waste products  iv)

Which tissue transport food in plants?
Phloem tissue transport food in plants.

What is transpiration pull?
Water and dissolved minerals are transported through dead xylem cells fro roots to leaves only in one direction by transpiration pull.

Describe the structure and function of heart.
Structure of Heart:
·         It is muscular organ having four chambers.
·         Two upper chambers are called atria.
·         Two lower chambers are called ventricles.
·         Valves are present between atria and ventricles.
Function of Heart:
·         Right atrium receives de-oxygenated blood from body and sends to right ventricle.
·         Right ventricle sends this blood to lungs.
·         Left atrium receives oxygenated blood from lungs and sends to left ventricle.
·         Left ventricle send this blood to body.

Explain transplantation of artificial tissues and organs.
·         An artificial organ is man-made device.
·         It is implanted into a human to replace a natural organ to restore its function.
·         Artificial legs, arms, hands, bones, arteries, eyes, teeth and ears are comonly transplanted.

Write a note on heart attack.
·         Heart attack leads to death.
·         It occurs when blood supply to a part of heart is blocked.
·         The fat and cholesterol narrow the arteries and blood supply is blocked.
·         The muscles of heart start dyeing.
·         This is called heart attack. Its symptom is severe chest pain.

Describe absorption of water in plants through roots.
·         Roots have branches with many root hairs.
·         Water enter into root hairs by osmosis because concentration of water is more in soil than root.
·         Thus water from soil moves into root hair through cell walls and cell membrane.

Explain how the structure of the roots, stem and leaves of a plant permit the movement of food.
·         Food is prepared in leaves.
·         The movement of food materials is called translocation.
·         Food is transported by flowing cells present in vascular bundles.
·         Food is transported by phloem tissue in any direction.
·         This movement is carried out due to difference of concentration.

How transport of gases take place in woody plants?
·         In plant, movement of gases takes place by diffusion.
·         During respiration oxygen is taken in and carbon dioxide is taken out.
·         During day time, when photosynthesis is faster than respiration, carbon dioxide diffuses in and oxygen diffuses out.
