Malik Chhajju
He was nephew of Balban and revolted. He was defeated and captured by Sultan. He and his followers were pardoned.
Deccan was divided into 4 states Devagiri, Warangal, Dwarasmudra and Madura. It was made capital by Muhammad Bin Tughlaq.
Malik Kafur
Alauddin died in 1316. He favorite Malik Kafur seized the reins of government. But he was murdered in bed by a servant.
Mubarak Khalji
He was easy going youth of seventeen. He was a slave of his pleasures and under hi everything returned to the old lax way.
Transfer of the capital under Muhammad Bin Tughlaq
An important measure of Muhammmad Bin Tughlaq was the transfer of capital from Delhi to Devagiri, renamed as Daulatabad.
Token currency of Muhammad Bin Tughlaq
He had heard about paper currency used in China. He therefore introduced the currency system and introduced copper coins.
Irrigation works of Feroze Shah
Feroze Shah reformed the system of irrigation. He constructed canals from the rivers of Jamna and Sutlej.
Mahmud Tughlaq
He was king after Feroze Shah. He nominally occupied the throne for 18 years till 1412.
Khizer Khan
After the downfall of Delhi Sultanate Punjab came under Khizar Khan and later on the foundation of the Sayyad Dynasty.
Ibrahim Lodhi
He was eldest son of Sikandar Lodhi. He lost sympathies of nobles by his insolent behaviour.

Question: Discuss the Mangol policy of Alauddin Khalji
·         He gave attention to Mongol's invasion.
·         These invasions were constant threat to peace of South Asia.
·         He placed strong forces in frontier fortresses.
·         His strong measures were successful and attacks of Mongols were repulsed.
Question: Describe the Deccan campaign led by Malik Kafur.
·         Deccan was divided into 4 states Devagiri, Warangal, Dwarasmudra and Madura.
·         Alauddin prepared a large army under his able slave, Malik Kafur.
·         Malik Kafur conquered all four kingdoms.
·         Malik Kafur returned with huge amount of booty including gold, precious stones, elephants and horses.

·         He was the most learned king.
·         He was scholar, a poet adn great lover of fine arts.
·         He had a good memory and strong will.
·         He did his best to relieve misery of people.
·         He was tolerant towards Hindu subjects whom he treated very liberally.
Question: Analyse the various plans of Muhammad Bin Tughlaq
·         His first step was the increase of taxation in the Doab.
·         Another important step was the transfer of the capital from Delhi to Devagiri.
·         Another daring plan was the introduction of token currency.
·         He formed the plans of foreign conquests in Persia and China.
Question: Give an account of Timor's invasion of South Asia.
·         He invade South Asia he had everything to gain and nothing to lose.
·         In 1398 his grandson Pir Muhammad conquered Uchh and Multan.
·         Timor then defeated Mubarak Khan, the Governor of Punjab.
·         After raiding teh cities of Talumba, Bhatnir and Sirsuti, Timur reached near Delhi.
Question: Account for the downfall of the Delhi Sultanate.
·         Timur invasion struck a severe blow to the already weak Tughlaq.
·         The government of Delhi was completely shaken and it caused widespread lawlessness.
·         It spread havoc among people. It caused a severe famine in country.
·         Punjab came under Khizar Khan and later on the foundation of the Sayyad Dynasty.
Question: Give a very brief account of the independent printipalities established after the decline of the Delhi Sultanate.
·         First independent kingdom of Bengal came into existence in 1352 under Ilyas Khwaja Shamsuddin.
·         Founder of kingdom of Jaunpur was Khwaja Jahan who was appointed in 1394 by Mahmud Tughlaq.
·         Orissa remained isolated under the Hindu Rajas.
·         In 1387 Feroze Shah granted the Jagir of Malwa to Dilawar Khan Ghauri.
·         The kingdom of Khandesh was founded by Malik Raja Farruki in 1401.
·         Zafar Shah declared the indepdence of Gujrat in 1401.
·         In 1443, one Shaikh Yusuf become independent ruler of Multan.
·         The famous rulers of Chittor were Rana Kumbha and Rana Sanga.
